Obituary

John passed unexpectedly in his sleep at the age of 62. He was a longtime resident of the Congress Park neighborhood in Denver, Colorado. Born and raised in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

John owned, operated, coached and acted in Impulse Theater in Denver for over 25 years. He was a self-taught actor, improv artist, entrepreneur, musician, cook, computer whiz, mechanic and carpenter. He excelled in both technical and creative endeavors and could learn, then execute any skill he put his mind to. He used this same determination to consume mass amounts of extremely spicy Mexican food and comically large bowls of ice cream with M&Ms on a regular basis.

He was a brilliant man and his intelligence was matched by his kindness and generosity. John was a wonderful teacher and truly invested his time and energy into the people he cared for - which was the majority of people he met: employees, neighbors, family and friends. He was not perfect and therefore was always willing to forgive imperfection in others while at the same time helping them to be better.

John leaves behind his two loving children Lauren (Chris) Christie and Jack Wegerbauer plus adoring grandchildren Claire, Cole and Quinn. He will be dearly missed by his Aunt Ann Kremel, siblings Carol (Moustafa) Hassan, Patty (Dave) Chybowski, Linda (Ted) Witkowiak, Bob Wegerbauer and Margaret (Bill) Crowley. John is further survived by cousins and many nieces and nephews who all have their own favorite Uncle John stories - usually involving ridiculous bets in exchange for money (which he always honored upon completion). He made his friends family, namely his dedicated partner for the last 8 years Dina Tsaregorodtseva, life-long friends: Don Wick, Gary Zajc and Craig Zablocki plus many more. He was preceded in death by his parents Karl and Peggy Wegerbauer, sisters Mary Wegerbauer and Joan Osgood and nephew Brian Pallen.

He will be remembered for his wise words such as "It's all fun and games until someone gets dead," "You are so lucky I'm not a spankin' dad" and "I'll give you a dollar tomorrow."
