Michael David Ross was born July 26, 1953 in Edmonton, AB Canada to WR and Ann Ross. He grew up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada with 3 siblings and a lot of family nearby. He came to the Western US during the Oil and Gas Exploration boom of the 1980's.

Michael and Laurie met on a blind date set up by Laurie's sister, Lynda, who worked at the same company. They were married on July 17th, 1982 and spent the early years of their marriage traveling around the Western US and Canada, working on the seismic crews. Michael and Laurie raised four beloved children, Kyle, Caitlin (Matthew) Bonner, Becca, engaged to Michael Bottoms and Meaghan. We have been blessed with two grandsons, Miles (Bonner) and Noah. When Noah began speaking, Michael asked to be called Grumpy instead of Grampy, and that nickname stuck.

Michael struggled with Diabetes for 25 plus years and that disease took a huge toll on his body and he succumbed to these issues on September 2, 2019 at the Medical Center of Aurora. He is survived by his mother, Ann, in Calgary and brother Brian (Susan) also in Calgary and Stuart (Myrna) in Vancouver, BC. Michael was preceded in death by his father (WR, Ron) and sister, Karen.
