Obituary

Agnes M. Bush died peacefully on April 27, 2022. She was born and raised in northeastern Colorado. During the summer of 1954 while competing for rodeo queen she contracted poliomyelitis. She would use a wheelchair for the rest of her life and deal with post-polio syndrome issues in later years.

She applied creativity and determination to finding ways to live life on her terms. She was employed as a bookkeeper for nearly 20 years and for 14 of those she also worked evenings and weekends as a salesperson. She excelled at sales becoming a sales trainer and a regional manager. Success in sales allowed her to leave bookkeeping.

She loved meeting people and took pride in mentoring other salespeople. She won trips to New York City, New Orleans, Las Vegas, St. Louis, Acapulco, and many other locations. Her interest in sales extended to being an active member of SWAP Club (Salesman with a Purpose Club is now Sales Pros - USA) and as member of that group she traveled to more cities.

Agnes moved to Denver in 1964. She appreciated visits from friends and family but enjoyed her independence. She loved gardening including growing roses, irises, vegetables, and grapes (those she made into wine). Another favorite activity was baking cheesecakes and sharing those with friends and family. She traveled several times to Arizona and the Midwest to visit family. She was a skilled seamstress making her own clothes and clothes for her nieces and nephews.

She gave back to her local community in many ways. She volunteered for 10 years with the Sunnyside neighborhood association including as a treasurer and newsletter editor. She gave back to the greater Denver metro community by volunteering with 9HealthFair and with other groups.

Agnes is survived by nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lena Longcrier, her father Jack E., her brothers, Kenneth Watson and Arthur Bush, her sister, Norma Todd, a niece, Sharon Bush, and her birds Patrick and Rodney.
