Aimsel Maynard Nelsen, 92 of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on February 15, 2021. Aimsel was born February 24, 1928, in Soldier, Iowa to Alta (Thoreson) and Adolph Nelsen. He grew up in Soldier, IA, and graduated from Soldier High School in 1945.

He was united in marriage to Donna (Mesenbrink) in 1949 and they were blessed with five children. Janet Kipp, Urbandale, IA; Diane Jackson (Steve), Jefferson, IA; Carol Hedstrom, Schleswig, IA; Linda Francisco, Northglenn, CO; Steven Nelsen, Jefferson, IA.

Aimsel farmed in his early years raising cattle and hogs. He moved his family to Toledo, Ohio in 1957, and started a successful business. Later, he managed projects installing modern facades for large office buildings in Toledo, OH, Trenton, NJ, Cleveland, OH, and Buffalo, NY. In 1971, he moved to Denver, Colorado, and began a company that repaired and replaced windshields. He retired from business when he was 62 years old.

After moving to Denver, he met and married Mary (Schmaedecke) in April of 1980. They enjoyed traveling in their retirement and spending time with friends in Texas and Arizona. Aimsel loved dancing, golfing, playing euchre, and spending time with family. He had a fun and loving personality and enjoyed people.

Aimsel is survived by his children, siblings; John Nelsen (Darlene), Annette Maahs (Dick), and Gloria Lee. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; former wife, Donna; siblings, Ione Olson, Clarion Nelsen, Yvonne Reincke, and his parents.

A celebration of life will be in Soldier, Iowa at a later date.
