Akiko was born in Japan to Genichiro and Shizuko Miyake. She married Donald Buckmaster and moved to the US. She taught this century old art in floral arrangement called Ikebana who was well respected in this field. She worked at Lehers Flowers as designer and later on went to work at Pacific Mercantile in Denver.

She will missed by all that knew her. Akiko will be laid to rest at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, in Denver where she will be with her beloved husband Don.
