Angelina P.
Davis
June 18, 1926 – December 21, 2024
Angelina (Angie) Palmieri Davis of Littleton, CO passed peacefully in her sleep on December 21, 2024. She was 98 years old and residing at the Gardens at Columbine. She was born in New Haven, CT on June 18, 1926, the youngest child of Marco and Teresa DeMaio Palmieri.
Angie's parents both died when she was very young, and her sister Madeline became legal guardian of the family at age 21. Angie graduated from Hillhouse High School in 1944 and moved to Washington DC to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigations during the J Edward Hoover era and through World War II. She worked as a clerk and researcher first in fingerprint identification and then domestic intelligence. After a near ten-year career with the FBI, Angie married Jack Davis at the Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington DC on August 16th, 1953. The beginning of their 71-year marriage.
As a newly commissioned officer for the United States Marine Corps, Jack and bride Angie left Washington, DC for Pensacola, FL where he started flight training. They ultimately landed in Santa Ana, CA and began their family. Jack completed his active United States Marine Corps status stationed at El Tora Naval Air in California and began his career as a pilot with United Airlines based out of Los Angeles. In 1977, a job transfer with United Airlines moved Jack and Angie to Greenwood Village, CO where they resided for 46 years.
Angie often described herself as a housewife. However, where many lives are distinguished by their designations, awards, and recognition, Angie's life was distinguished by her immense love, the respect she offered and engendered in people, and her deep wisdom couched in humility.
For God, her faith was unwavering. For our family, she was our beating heart. For friends, her counsel was wise, loving, and profound. For all, her enthusiasm, love, and optimism were catching and compelling. She will always be remembered for her short stature, her unending beautiful smile, and her emanating love.
Angie had many interests and loves. She was a passionate cook that was proud to have taught cooking to all three of her children—and anyone else who wanted to learn to make the best Italian meatballs ever. As a part of her faith, she taught catechism both in California at St. Joseph's Catholic Parish and in Colorado as a devoted member of All Souls Catholic Parish. Angie was also a talented and prolific artist: her oil paint landscapes portray many beautiful landscapes and seascapes. She loved keeping in touch with her family—immediate and extended—she kept in touch via frequent phone calls and visits—including family weddings and reunions. Above all, she was passionate about her husband Jack: the two of them traveled the world together via Orbis International and more locally with trips within Colorado and across the country. In their later years they just simply spent their days together—sharing meals and sitting outside enjoying beautiful days.
She is survived by her husband Jack Davis, children Jack (wife Jan), Highlands Ranch, CO, Grace (husband Tom), Tucson, AZ, and Mark (husbands Marvin and Mark), West Chester, PA; grandchildren Cindy, Hillsboro, VA and John, Minot, ND; great grandchild Oliver, MT; and her extended family largely in the Northeastern United States. She was the last surviving sibling—preceded in death by sister Madeline; brothers Joseph, George, Nicholas, and Marco; and a sister that died at birth.
It is the decision of Angie's children that commemorative services for Angie will be on-hold until she is joined in passing by her surviving husband Jack (94). While our mother's legacy is significant and the people she has touched in her life abundant, it is our belief that after 71 years of marriage the legacy of these two individuals are inexorably linked and our wish is to celebrate their lives jointly.
An intention mass will be held in honor of Angie, on Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 11:00am at All Souls Parish, 4950 S Logan Street, Englewood, CO 80113. Angie will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery. In lieu flowers, the family suggests donations be made to The Gardens at Columbine Employee Holiday Fund, 5130 W Ken Caryl Avenue, Littleton, CO 80128 in gratitude to the caregivers who have cared for Angie and who continue to care for Jack.
