Anthony Robert Withers, age 66 of Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Denver, Colorado, after an extended illness.
Anthony Robert Withers, affectionally known by family and friends as 'Tony', was born on September 19, 1957, in Denver, Colorado. He was the son of Edith Withers Pogue, who precedes him in death and Inman Earl Nealie who also precedes him in death.
Tony lived his childhood in Denver, Colorado, where he attended South High School and Thomas Jefferson High School graduating in the Class of 1975. Following high school, Tony attended the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) in Greeley, CO, graduating in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications/Journalism.
While at UNC, Tony was in radio production for KLAB/KUNC Radio stations. After graduating from UNC, he pursued his love of telecommunications as a recording engineer at the Eaglear Recording Studio, CO. He continued to hone his skills at Channel 24, Aurora, CO as a Cable Casting Member. Tony's engineering skill and expertise enabled him to work in several positions in Denver, CO. He was an Engineer Technician at KCNC Television, and a Master Control Operator at KRMT Television.
Not only was Tony a skilled professional technician, but he was also an accomplished vocal artist and musician in the Denver area. He demonstrated mastery on the piano, keyboards, baritone, and tenor saxophone. Tony took pride in writing, recording, producing, and performing his original music under the name of "NEBULOUS THEY INC." One original production, titled, "Anthony Withers Relished Relics", was manufactured and distributed by Tate Music Group Publishing and Enterprises in 2014.
Enthusiastic about helping children and adults with differing abilities, Tony was employed by the Hope Center, an institution for early childhood and adults with disabilities in Denver, CO, where he was a Special Needs Teacher for children and a Job Coach and Rehabilitation Services Manager for adults. Tony continued aiding others while employed with Colorado Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield where he assisted clients with understanding and filing claims as a Clerck II Sirf Network.
Tony loved life, sharing his gifts of music, humor, infectious laughter, and helping others.
Tony is survived by his little sister, Roberta Robin Withers, who also grew up in Denver, Colorado, and now resides in San Diego, California. He is also survived by a brother William Nealie, many loving cousins, extended family members and numerous friends.
Celebrating the life of Tony will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 11:30am at Cure d'Ars Catholic Church Parish Center, 4701 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Denver, Colorado 80207. Repast Immediately Following.
