Obituary

Barbara Ruth Moore, a Denver resident, passed on July 31, 2023 at the age of 88. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska November 10, 1934 to Leonard Andrew and Ruth Esther Newman. Barbara was married to the love of her life, Gerald Westby Moore who passed October 20, 2021. She was devoted to him and lovingly cared for him their entire life together.

In her early years she worked at Coors and was a paralegal for law firms in California and Denver. She grew up in Colorado, lived in Louisiana, California and Florida, returning to Colorado with Gerry to be closer to her family and friends. Barbara was an avid Broncos fan with Buddy the Bulldog dancing only with a touchdown.

Barbara traveled the world with Gerry enjoying many adventures and cultures including Africa, Galapagos (taking her children and their spouses back to the Galapagos), Antarctica, New Zealand, Ireland, England, and her roots in Sweden. She volunteered at the Denver Botanic Gardens with the plant sale and the herb garden, helped children though Families First and joined Gerry in many other charitable causes in Colorado and elsewhere.

She is best known for the love, support and nurturing she provided to her family. Her favorite Christmas memories revolved around the Swedish Smorgasbord which her parents and later she and her sisters worked tirelessly to share their heritage and Swedish foods with their families. Barbara and Gerry were devoted to their children and grandchildren, taking the grandchildren several times to Tumbling River Ranch where precious memories were made and many ribbons won. Ski trips and summer fun at the Arlberg Club were amazing. Barbara loved sharing time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cooking and baking cookies, enjoying nature, trips to the Tattered Cover, Museum of Nature and Science, Botanic Gardens, Denver Zoo, lunches, shopping for birthdays, pool fun at the Denver Country Club, traveling to celebrate graduations and weddings, with endless love poured into showing her devotion to each of them.

Barbara was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mom, grandma, great-grandma and aunt. She is survived by a loving and grateful family, daughter Vicki, Alan, Eric, Robin, Sophie, Isla, Matt and Reed, son Brett, Marchell, Breanna, Tyler, Cooper, Christopher, and Emily, daughter Kim, Brandon and Kelly, her sister Linda and Harv, nieces and nephews and many lifelong friends. Barbara was preceded by her sisters Virginia and Nancy.

For anyone wishing to honor her legacy, the family has asked for donations to be made to Alzheimer's Association , 455 Sherman Street, Suite 500, Denver, Colorado, 80203 (303) 813-1669.
