Dr. Benjamin "Ben" K. Clarke II

Dr. Benjamin King Clarke II was born in Columbus Ohio in 1928 and later moved to Denver, Colorado where he graduated from East High School. He served in the United States Army before pursuing medicine, earning his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completing his residency in anesthesiology in Minneapolis Minnesota.

Around 1962, Dr. Clarke began practicing in New York and in 1969 he returned to Denver, where he built a long and respected career in anesthesiology. After retiring from medicine, he served as a Colorado State Representative from 1995 to 2001.

Dr. Clarke married Mavis Hooper, who later became Mavis Clarke. Together they raised sons Edgar and Ben Clarke. The family includes their daughter-in-law Rene Dumas.

Beyond his professional life, Dr. Clarke enjoyed traveling and playing tennis. He passed away on August 6, 2026, leaving a legacy of service in medicine, public life and family
