Bill R.
Gough
October 19, 1947 – August 26, 2024
Bill Richard Gough, beloved husband, father, and friend, was born October 19, 1947 to William Lewis Gough and Cleora Ann Robinson Gough in Denver, CO. Although Bill prided himself on being a Colorado native, his family did live for a few years in Oklahoma. He also spent many boyhood summers on the family farm outside of Dodge City, KS. Bill was proud of his status as an Eagle Scout and even prouder that his dad Billy was his scout leader.
He married Lenny DeeAnn Butters Gough in 1970. Bill and Lenny traveled the United States and Canada in a Volkswagen bus from 1974 – 1976. This marriage produced his only child – his loving daughter Elizabeth DeeAnn Gough, born in 1978.
Bill was married in 1989 to Janine Suzanne Allen. Bill and Janine made the most of their 35 years together, traveling all over the world to exotic places like Nepal, Machu Picchu, and Patagonia. He loved to eat and ate his way through many countries.
He was a Colorado real estate broker specializing in commercial property management and brokerage. At the time of his retirement, Janine and he were managing primarily GSA properties for a REIT. His job was to keep all the contractors in line – which he did with that charming personality he had.
Bill was an avid skier, bicyclist, motorcyclist, rock climber, and hiker. He loved fast skis and fast cars. He loved calling Janine from the top of a fourteener to let her know he was okay, even if he was standing in a snowstorm on top of the mountain. He was also known as Captain Bill during the 25 years at Lake Powell piloting a houseboat.
Bill was an exceptional photographer who produced some award-winning photos. His Lake Powell collection was on display for three months at the former restaurant Racine's.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother and his sister Linda Coppinger. He leaves behind his loving wife Janine, his devoted daughter Liz (Daniel Fahrney), his stepson David Russell Allen (Tina Allen), and four grandchildren – Everett Walker Fahrney, Cullen William Fahrney, Emma Isabelle Allen, and Alexandra Renee Allen. Being a grandparent was one of Bill's greatest joys.
A celebration of Bill's extraordinary life will be held on his birthday Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at The Inn at Hudson Gardens, 6115 S Santa Fe Dr., Littleton, CO 80120. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Parkinson's Association of the Rockies and The Michael J. Fox Foundation .
