78, passed away peacefully at his home in Denver, Colorado on January 13, 2026. Bruce was born on July 28, 1947 in Missoula, Montana. He attended St. Anthony grade school and graduated from Missoula County High School in 1965. Bruce graduated from the University of Montana in 1969 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972. After serving stateside and in Germany, Bruce was honorably discharged from the Army in 1980 and returned to Montana and then moved to Denver, Colorado. In 1985, he married Emily Weiss and they resided in Denver until her passing in 2022. Bruce spent his career as a social worker and counselor, with his last job as an advocate for veterans to make sure they received their earned benefits, until his retirement.
Bruce was known by all for his curiosity about life, his willingness to take on new adventures, his courage in the face of adversity, his broad knowledge, his incredible generosity, his great sense of humor, and his magnetic charm. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Bruce was preceded in death by his mother (Laura), his father (Ed), and his wife (Emily). He is survived by his sister, Pat; his brother, Jim (Mary Alice); his nephew, Michael (Kristina); and his niece, Lisa.
A private service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver on Monday, January 26, 2026.
