Obituary

On July 9, 2025, our beloved mother, sister, friend, and Nana, Carol Lynn Daniel Byrd, took her final breath, bringing peace to the years-long suffering that often accompanies a life long and well-lived.

Carol was born on January 30, 1942, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the fifth of eight children born to Virgil and Ruby Irene Daniel. She grew up surrounded by a large and loving family, a foundation that shaped the nurturing heart she carried throughout her life.

Carol had two children with her first husband, David Meyer. After 25 years of marriage and as their children grew, they amicably went their separate ways. In 1985, Carol met the true love of her life, Roy Byrd. Together, they shared 20 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, companionship, and a deep bond that carried them through life's highs and lows. Whether they were bowling, playing cards with friends, or hoping for a Bingo win, Carol and Roy were at their happiest simply spending time together.

A natural caregiver, Carol devoted much of her life to supporting others—sitting for hours with loved ones, watching game shows, coloring, or simply being a calm, steady presence. Her empathy, loyalty, and sense of humor left an indelible mark on everyone she touched.

Carol is now joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents, her loving husband Roy, her siblings Rita Daniel Woods, Stanley Daniel, Janice Daniel Wheeler, and Kenneth Daniel, and her beloved granddaughter Brittany Meyer-Rosale.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in the hearts of those who remain: sister Shirley Daniel Sprague; brothers John (Lori) Daniel and Butch (Deb Nilsson) Daniel; son Dave Meyer and his children, Craig Meyer, JD (Ashley Young) Meyer, and Kassie Meyer; and her daughter Carrie (Dana) Meyer Bishop and her children, Tyler (Lindsey) Bishop and Nichole (Eric) Bishop-Woods. Carol also had numerous great-grandchildren who brought a special sparkle to her eye, and many extended family members and friends who were blessed to know her.

Carol will be remembered for her quick wit, her devotion to family, her love for Mickey Mouse and Kewpie dolls, and her uncanny luck at Bingo. More than anything, she will be missed for the way she showed up—fully and lovingly—for everyone around her.

"Nana, you were always there for anyone who needed a shoulder to cry on, a laugh to share, or your words of wisdom. I'll miss our summer nights watching Big Brother and giggling over the kids' crazy stories. I'll never forget those moments. Love you always."
