Carol Cheney Donahoe was born on July 27, 1940, in Atlanta, Georgia and died November 18, 2024, in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 84.
Carol attended Smith College for 2 years before marrying Edgar J Donahoe Jr. She finished her bachelor's degree at Georgia State University while caring for her parents and raising her family, then received her master's degree in theology from Iliff School of Theology in Denver, CO. Carol was a free-lance writer and worked for the Episcopal Church of Colorado creating and teaching congregational development resources. She received the Polly Bond award for some of her work while there.
Carol was a longtime member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, spending many years editing the monthly newsletter, clerking for the vestry and helping with many other projects over the years.
She is survived by her daughter Cathy, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband Ed, daughter Lane, sister Rebecca, and her parents Wylie O. Cheney and Nanette Cheney (Bassett).
A service celebrating Carol's life will be held Saturday, January 11th, 2025, at 1:00 pm at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 2201 Dexter St., Denver, CO 80207 with a reception to follow.
