Christopher
Beasley
June 25, 1949 – November 19, 2022
Christopher Beasley died on November 19, 2022 at the age of 73.
Chris was born on June 25, 1949, in Los Angeles, California to Audrey Pauline (Petersen) Beasley and Wallace Walter Beasley. Early in his life, the family moved from California to Prairie Village, KS, where Chris and his older brother Steve and younger brother Dan were raised. Chris attended Shawnee Mission East High School. Chris' father served in the Navy on a submarine and Audrey was a Navy nurse, so after his high school graduation, Chris followed tradition and enlisted in the Navy where he served in Vietnam on river boats.
After serving in Vietnam and upon returning to Kansas, he earned his master's degree in Psychology from Emporia State University, and then worked at The Menninger Clinic as a research assistant for Dr. Roy Menninger. In 1988, Chris met Debra M. Wilde and they were married in 1989. Together they moved to Denver, where Chris attended University of Denver and earned his Doctor of Psychology (Psy-D). Chris was a department director and clinician at Aurora Mental Health Center in Aurora, Colorado for 16 years. He then opened a private practice which was active until his death.
Chris was the epitome of the saying, 'still waters run deep.' He was kind, patient, and an excellent listener. His experience, perspective, and personality made him an ideal, dedicated - and most of all compassionate - clinician for his clients. One would be hard pressed to find anyone more honest, principled, or with higher integrity. He was a prolific reader, great cook, a gardener, and woodworker. Many adventures filled his life – from trips to Paris, South Africa, and New Zealand to riding his Harley Davidson. Chris took joy in not just navigating the back roads, but also learning the stories created there.
Chris is survived by his wife of 34 years, Debra Wilde, his older brother Steve (Toni) Beasley, and his son, Scott and Scott's daughter, Tessa; his younger brother Dan (Judy) Beasley and their children, Christopher Fulks, Valerie Fulks, and Brittany (Eric) Wickstrom;his niece, Amy (Mike) Keltner and her children Bryan Babb, Allison Babb, and Emily Pratt; his nephew Michael Wilde and his children Amanda (Jesse) Stiebens and Brandon Wilde.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 30, 2023, 1:00 pm at Washington Park Boathouse 701 S Franklin St, Denver, CO 80209.
