Cynthia Tupper MacDowell, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away with dignity on October 24, 2022. She was 97.
Cynthia was born October 12, 1925, the third daughter of Carleton and Florence Tupper of Hackensack New Jersey. Cynthia's family migrated to Denver when she was a young girl. Her father passed away also when she was young. Florence raised Cynthia and her two older sisters as a single mother after moving to the Congress Park neighborhood in Denver. Cynthia had fond childhood memories of spending summers with her siblings and cousins at her relative's lovely cabin in Estes Park. She attended Gove Junior High School and East High School where she graduated in 1943. She attended The Colorado College after high school.
Following her years in college, Cynthia became a stewardess with United Airlines. It was at that time when she met Paul William MacDowell Jr. They married in 1950. They raised four children and developed a close community of friends. Cynthia and Paul divorced in 1971.
After her marriage, Cynthia developed varied new interests and a profession as a residential realtor. She experienced much success and developed close relationships while working for Perry & Company from 1973 to 1990. In addition to her career, Cynthia pursued her interest in drawing and painting. She was an avid reader. Cynthia was an emotionally supportive parent to her children who will remember her always and who will miss her dearly.
Following her real estate career, she moved to Hawaii and became a supportive grandmother. She was affectionately known as Tutu.
Cynthia moved to The Brookdale Meridian community in May of 2019 where she lived until she passed. While at Brookdale, she developed a number of close and dear friends.
She is survived by her four children, Barrie Tupper Rose, Paul W MacDowell III (Trey), Tupper G MacDowell, and Peter C MacDowell. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Leandra Maile Caenepeel, Melissa Rose Ilima Rouse, Micah MacDowell, Charity MacDowell, Justina MacDowell, Jonathan MacDowell, Ryan MacDowell, and Cullen MacDowell. Cynthia's great-grandchildren include Coco Olena, Sabine, Maverick, Michaela, McKenzie, Evelyn, and Mason.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials may be made to Project Angel Heart or The Gathering Place in her name.
