Daniel W.
Oravez
July 20, 1965 – January 23, 2022
Daniel (Dan) William Oravez, 56, died on January 23, 2022 in Denver of complications from Multiple Myeloma. He was born on July 20, 1965 in Norwalk, Connecticut. He grew up in Norwalk and graduated from Norwalk High School.
Dan earned a bachelor of science degree in business from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.
Soon after graduating from Plymouth State, Dan "chased a girl" (as he liked to say) to Colorado. While the girlfriend eventually moved on, Dan's love for Colorado and the state's natural beauty and easy-going lifestyle only grew deeper, and so he stayed.
After working for REI and a craft beer company in the early 1990's, Dan went back to school and earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Colorado at Denver. He then joined Harris Group, Inc. where he designed electrical systems for large commercial projects.
Dan loved all types of outdoor adventure, including snow skiing, road biking and deep sea fishing. He appreciated any opportunity to be on or near the water, whether it was Hawaii, the Cayman Islands or his beloved, native Long Island Sound.
Dan is survived by his wife, Kate and daughter Margot, as well as his parents Larry and Marie Oravez; his brother, Michael; and his sister, Jane Hyatt.
A memorial service will be held at St. John's Cathedral, 1350 N. Washington Street in Denver, on February 3 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Judi's House .
