Daniel C.
Teter
April 8, 1975 – January 27, 2025
It is with the heaviest hearts that we announce the death of Daniel Clyde Teter, age 49, on January 27, 2025, after a short and fierce battle with metastatic melanoma. Dan was born to William (Bill) and Eleanor (Nora) Teter on April 8, 1975, in Littleton, New Hampshire. He spent his formative years in Plattsburgh, New York, near the Adirondack Mountains, where he enjoyed camping and canoeing with his parents, his older sister Sarah, and his younger brother Jacob.
Dan attended Saint Michael's College in Burlington, Vermont. "Steakfry," as he was known in those days, studied computer science, played basketball, and most importantly, forged the lasting friendships that carried him through life's ups and downs until the very end.
Dan met his future wife, Meg Lederer, when a rained-out Red Sox season opener landed them in a Boston bar near Fenway Park. They moved to Denver while Meg completed medical school and were married there on June 9, 2007. After a stint in Madison, Wisconsin, where their sons Connor and Logan were born, Dan and Meg returned to Colorado.
Dan was a pioneer in working from home, long before Covid made it popular. He spent almost his entire career working remotely as a software developer for Massachusetts General Brigham Integrated Healthcare System. In his free time, Dan liked to plan and complete do-it-yourself projects and home improvements. His enduring masterworks include deck furniture, a pergola, a porch swing, a garden wall and pathway, and a living room remodel that transformed the most-used room in the house to perfection.
Dan loved his family and the outdoors—in that order—and loved his family best while in the outdoors; skiing, hiking, playing on the beach, or sitting on the sidelines of a sporting event. He was a gifted athlete who was especially at home on the ski slopes. We will remember him making beautiful, wide turns going extremely fast—or, if not skiing down mountains, hiking up them.
Dan is survived by his wife, Meg Lederer, and their sons Connor and Logan, along with his parents, Nora and Bill Teter and his siblings Sarah Teter (Mark Heffernan) and Jacob Teter (Elsa Renouf).
A celebration of Dan's life will be held at Park Hill Congregational Church, UCC - 2600 Leyden St/Denver, CO/80220 - on April 26, 2025 at 3pm with a party to celebrate his 50th birthday following.
