Obituary

Beloved husband, father, and friend- Daniel Jack von Burske

Daniel Jack von Burske was born at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan on December 10, 1947, to Jack Edward Burske and Goldie Ann Smith Burske. He passed away at home on October 18, 2024, as a result of complications of a subdural hematoma along with dementia.

Daniel grew up in Lansing, Michigan with three sisters and his parents, and served as a Hospital Corpsman in Vietnam from 1969–1970. In 1990 Daniel graduated Summa Cum Laude from Plymouth State College in New Hampshire with a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. In 1997 he earned a Masters Degree in Mineral Economics from the Colorado School of Mines. Daniel worked for Delta Airlines as an Operations Research Analyst for almost a year. He suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression, however, and decided to return to Colorado with his wife, Nancy and their two sons, Jack and Chris. Daniel applied for and was granted 100% disability through the Veterans Administration for his service related PTSD.

Spending time with his family has been a top priority in Daniel's life. He was a very loving spouse and father. One way that he showed his affection for the family was in gift giving, especially on HIS birthday. Daniel was passionate about hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and in the Rocky Mountains. He was also a train buff and modeled N scale trains. In addition to collecting N scale trains, Daniel also collected model cars and had a great knowledge of types and years of cars built in the first half of the 20th century.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Nancy, his son, Chris, and his sisters Polly Reynolds of Eaton Rapids, MI and Tamara Hutchins of E. Lansing, MI. He is preceded in death by his parents Jack Burske and Goldie B. DeVries, father-in-law Bruce DeVries, sister Molly Munshaw and his son, Jack M. von Burske.

Donations in Daniel's honor can be made to the Alzheimer's Association .
