David Cornelius John Clifford, 79, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2026.

Born in Passaic, New Jersey, David was the beloved son of Alfred P. Clifford and Dorothy E. Clifford. He grew up in New Jersey, where he developed the strong values, dedication, and sense of responsibility that guided him throughout his life.

David attended Franklin School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Rutgers University. While in college, he was an active member of the Sigma Pi fraternity, serving as Treasurer, and participated in the Air Force ROTC program for four years.

Following graduation, David entered active duty in the United States Air Force in September 1968. He attended Communications Officer School at Keesler Air Force Base and served at Tinker Air Force Base, achieving the rank of Major. He continued his military service in the Air Force Reserves at Willow Grove Air Force Base, ultimately rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

David began his career with IBM in September 1973 in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Over 39 years, he worked as a computer programmer and later at Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. His career reflected his passion for technology and his strong analytical mind.

He enjoyed model railroad trains, music from the 1960s, and working on computers. Above all, David loved his family.

David shared 58 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Donna Clifford. High school sweethearts who met in Rutherford, New Jersey, their enduring love was the foundation of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; his sons, Paul Clifford and Sean Clifford; his grandson, Aedan Clifford, 22, a dental student at Touro Dental Health in Westchester County, New York; and his sisters, Patsy Higham and Janice Demers.

David's viewing will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026, 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at St. Martin In the Fields Episcopal Church  4740 S Buckley Rd, Aurora, CO 80015. PLEASE WEAR BRIGHT COLORS.

Committal service will be held Monday, May 4, 2026, 11:00 am at Pikes Peak National Cemetery 10545 Drennan Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80925 . Please arrive 15 minutes early.

About 50 yards through the front gate there is a Y in the road. Family should go to the right and line up in Lane 2 in front of our Public Information Center.
