Dennis B.
Williams
March 23, 1943 – February 20, 2024
On February 20, 2024 our wonderful dear friend and/or family member, Dennis Williams, passed away. He had been quite ill suffering from Alzheimer's disease for at least two years.
Dennis was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 23, 1943 to the late Robert and Marie Williams. Also, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert (Bob) Williams.
Dennis lived most of his adult life in Denver, Colorado. He loved hiking, camping, fishing and skiing in the mountains as well as experiencing so many of the hot springs in the state. He also loved to travel and visited many parts of the U.S., Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South America.
Dennis had an amazing sense of humor and was an articulate speaker and witty conversationalist. He had a dazzling smile and with his red hair and dashing physique, he modeled for JC Penny's as a young man!
Dennis was an ardent environmentalist all of his adult life. He was quite active in the Colorado Environmental Coalition and served as President and Vice President for a time. He worked as a housing inspector for federally funded housing programs and eventually started his own successful housing inspection business.
Dennis is survived by his soulmate, Mary VanderWall, who gave him much love and care during their years together, as well as tender caring during his illness. He is also survived by loving family members, his sister, Susan DeChant, his daughter, Marjory Handel, his grandchildren, Emily (David) Boido and Christian Handel, as well as his deceased brother Bob's family: sister in law Irma Olmedo, niece Diana Williams and nephew Daniel Williams. Also survived by his niece, Keely Davidson-Bennett and his cousins, David Kircher and Karen Kircher. He is deeply loved and will be missed by his many friends and family.
Mary wishes to recognize Ann Williams and Terri Fish for their steady and caring support for both Dennis and Mary during the last two years.
A special thanks to all of the staff at Assured Assisted Living; especially Melvin Cadua and Leah Lim; and Optimal Hospice Care for all the care given to Dennis.
