It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Donald James Olivas, age 66, of Westminster, CO who left us too soon on October 2, 2024.

Born on March 20, 1958, Donald was a cherished member of the community, known for his loving, generous, and compassionate nature.

Donald's early life was marked by his education at Sacred Heart Primary School, Kennedy High School, and later at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he studied accounting. His career began early at the early age of 14, working at D Boones hamburger stand, and included roles at Benihana's restaurant, Vivid Color and Gates Rubber Company. However, Donald dedicated over 25 years to a fulfilling career with the United States Post Office. His commitment and friendly demeanor made him a beloved figure among his customers and throughout the neighborhoods he served.

Donald's life was rich with personal interests and hobbies. He took immense pride in caring for his yard, home, and cars, displaying a knack for repairing almost anything. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed hockey and basketball, and was a loyal Chargers supporter. Donald also loved playing poker slot machines and had a deep affection for animals, regularly feeding neighborhood strays and wildlife.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Mona; sister Brenda; children Brianna (Cesar), Lacey (Dave), Stephanie, Marcus, Fabien, and Jason. He was preceded in death by his father Abdon, mother Sophie, brothers Ronald (twin) and Kenny; and his bonus son Thomas.

Donald's life was a testament to his kind, thoughtful, and charming personality. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and enduring kindness.

Donald was a bigger than life special man who will forever be remembered.

Memorial service and reception will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Westminster City Park Recreation Center 10455 Sheridan Boulevard, Westminster, CO 80020.
