Obituary

Dorothy Ruth Kranzler, affectionately known as Dot or Dottie passed away on July 8, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933, Dottie spent her formative years in Hempstead, Long Island, and attended Hempstead High School. She went on to graduate from Hofstra College in 1954, where she first met her beloved husband, Richard Kranzler. Together, they embarked on a journey to Colorado in 1956, seeking new opportunities and the start of a beautiful family.

Dottie carved out a successful career in the retail clothing industry, excelling in various roles such as buying, wholesale, retail sales, and ultimately owning a popular women's clothing boutique in Wheat Ridge, Colorado during the late 1970s. Alongside her dedication to her family and work, Dottie was a committed activist for the Democratic Party. She actively participated in events like the State Party Convention, volunteered to promote voter turnout, and diligently canvassed for causes she believed in. Furthermore, Dottie was on the forefront of social change in the 1980's as she co-founded a women's stock investment club where she served as the President. In her younger years, Dottie embraced recreational pursuits, including skiing and motorcycle riding. She found joy in cultivating beautiful gardens and, in her later years, maintained an active lifestyle through practices such as yoga, pilates, and water aerobics.

Dottie's legacy is defined by her unwavering commitment to both hard work and enjoying life to the fullest. She deeply touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her, including the other residents, caretakers and staff at her assisted living facility during her final years.

She leaves behind a treasured family, including her three children and their spouses: Susan and Jason Akers, her grandsons Aaron, Ryan, and Devon Akers; Jean and Jamie Wolter; David Kranzler and Sydney Ayers and her beloved dog Bernard.

At Dorothy's request, the family will not hold a formal memorial service. Dottie's memory will forever be cherished, and her impact will be felt through countless happy and loving memories. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dorothy's honor to The Alzheimer's Society .
