Dorothy Jean Stone, age 89, passed away, with family at her side, Saturday May 4, 2024, in East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado. Mom was born in Parkston South Dakota to her parents Sam and Emma Tiede of Parkston, SD.

Our Mom was a farm girl, who traveled to Denver Colorado with friends when she was 20 years old. They got there in a 400 dollar, 1950 ford sedan that Dorothy said "made the 600 mile trip with no problems." "It wasn't much, but it was a good car." Mom went on a blind date with friends and met John Stone of Denver. They were married September 20th, 1959. They soon bought a small house for 9 thousand dollars on S. Glencoe St. in South Denver. Dorothy and John would have two boys Jeff and Kerry while living at that address. In 1969 the family would move into a great house and neighborhood in the town of Littleton, CO. Their neighbors from Glencoe, the Allens, moved in right next door. They soon had their third son Erik. John and Dorothy bought season tickets to the Denver Broncos with the Allens and enjoyed going to the games for more than 30 years. Dorothy was the historian of the family. You could ask her anything about family history and she would know it. We will certainly be lost without her great memory.

Dorothy loved her home and treated it well. She loved bird watching and always had bird feeders full of birds in the backyard. Dorothy was also an amazing cook often using items harvested from their amazing garden. She could make anything taste good. Her specialties included Mexican Ribs, pork green chili, and German recipes from back home in Parkston, SD. Dorothy loved spending time with her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors on the block, keeping up with her relatives through email and facebook and visiting often with her close friends.

She is survived by her son Kerry (Mary-Jo Stone), Son Erik (Nichole Stone), and their children Emma, Parker, Carson and Connor, Jeff's son Joshua( Vanessa Stone) and their children Malachi, Sa'Rya, Melissa, Joshua's other children Michelle, Isaiah, Brooklynand Emmitt. She is preceded in death by her husband John, son Jeff and her brothers, Donald Tiede, Russell Tiede and Dennis Tiede.
