Obituary

Eldon was born in Omaha, NE May 31,1928. He was the only child of Frieda Kenny and Charlie Miner. When Eldon was nine the family fell in love with Colorado and moved here. They lived in east Denver where they were actively involved with St. Paul's Methodist Church. Eldon and his Mom sang in the choir and participated in presentation of musical entertainment for church and community. He also helped run church youth programs in the mountains. Eldon attended East High School and after graduation he joined the Navy. His Mom signed for him as he was only 17. After the Navy, Eldon attended the University of Denver majoring in business. He had many interests while in school; baseball, cars, girls, but he found a love in owning and riding motorcycles with his friends. They often rode into the mountains and he even rode solo across country (in the rain). Eldon was also pitcher for the motorcycle baseball team. (A crazy game!)

In 1953 he started his first job with Commercial Credit Co., then moved on to join Merchants Mortgage & Trust where he thrived...loving the business of finance. He was excited each day to work together with the owner (Lester Gold and Harry Cohen). He worked there for over fifty years and became Executive VP at the company. Eldon actively worked for years with the land Developers Association (later became ARDA) to create better legislation governing the industry. Eldon also had a knack for collections, and was especially good at it. He taught "collection techniques" even after he retired.

Eldon met and married Isabelle Gonzales. She gave birth to their only child Michelle Marie in 1964.Some years later the couple divorced and Eldon received guardianship of Michelle. Eldon's closeness with his mom developed into a wonderful closeness he had with his daughter. He cherished and adored Michelle and took particular care in raising her. Eldon joined the Denver Concert Chorale in 1975 where he first met Ann Howrey. They started dating a year later. He planned to put his personal life  on hold until Michelle was raised...however...Eldon was astonished when Michelle asked (in front of his folks) "When are we going to marry Ann"?

In the winter of 1978 Eldon wed Ann "The love of his life". They began a blended family with Michelle, Jackie and Bruce Howrey. Eldon became a member of Central Christian Church where he and Ann sang in the choir for 40 years.

Their life was all about music. Eldon and Ann performed in the Denver Concert Chorale for over 15 years singing four concerts year with orchestra. Eldon's mom started a small singing group called "The Mixed Nuts" including Frieda, Eldon, Ann, Michelle, Bill and Jean Wells, the accompanist. They sang "Old Time Music'' with costumes and dance at senior living, nursing homes and fundraisers throughout Denver.

Loving to dance, Eldon and Ann were a part of The Carousel Dance Club for 42 years. They also toured Eastern Europe with the "New Chords" singing familiar music. In each country they performed a song in their native language. Eldon and Ann owned a house in Hawaii and enjoyed a mountain home outside of Keystone. They traveled in their motor coach with friend to Alaska, Mexico and throughout the United States and Canada. Eldon and Ann have been happily married and have resided at Forest Glen for 45 years.

He is survived by his wife Ann, his daughter Michelle Schiffbauer (Chris}; Ann's children, Jackie Falvey (Con} and Bruce Howrey Brenda); his Grandchildren, Jacob, Miranda and Delaney Schiffbauer, Matthew Falvey and Megan Whitfield (Whit), Christine Willson (Gabe) and Michael Howrey (Alexandra). He was preceded in death by his parents.

Eldon passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on December 3,2023 at his home with Ann. We entrust his sour to the full embrace of God's Jove. Eldon loved life, was always a gentleman and he will be greatly missed.
