Obituary

Eleonora Kimmel, 100, of Northglenn, Colorado passed away on November 19, 2023.

Eleonora was born and raised in Germany. In the midst of WWII, she saved money to learn English to prepare for her future. In Regensburg she met an American soldier, J.R. Kimmel, and fell in love. They married and she immigrated to the U.S. in 1948. She proudly spoke of the day she became a US citizen in 1952, which sealed her determination to assimilate. She never lost her German accent, her love & loyalty to her birth country nor her taste for good German food and beer. As a War Bride of WWII she was invited and attended the dedication of the WWII Memorial in Washington D.C. in 2004.

Eleonora's early career was working as an accounting clerk for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. In the 1950's Eleonora was introduced to astrology and became an avid learner. She starting teaching Astrology in the 1960's and became a member of the American Federation of Astrologers (AFA). In 1970 she attended her first convention for the AFA which launched her as a sought-after speaker, lecturer. She traveled across the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Greece.

She enjoyed research and incorporated the Cosmobiology Research Foundation (CRF) in 1972. As a member of the AFA, she eventually served on the Board of Directors and as President. In 2009 Eleonora received an Honorary Life Membership and was named a Fellow of Astrology. She published four books including: Fundamentals of Cosmobiology, Altered and Unfinished Lives, Patterns of Destiny, and Cosmobiology for the 21st Century.

She delighted in harvesting her delicious tomatoes, spread her infectious laughter freely, and lived by her mantra of "learning something new every day." However, her greatest pride and joy was her family. She lived an extraordinary, unordinary life; full of challenges which she met with courage, bravery and sometimes, stubbornness. The losses in her life humbled her soul and reminded her to live life to the fullest. She matured gracefully and with dignity. The family is grateful to the staff of Northglenn Heights and Crossroads for their support and care.

Eleonora is survived by sons Robert (Carol Strini), Keith (Laurene Scalf), Jerry (Kathleen) daughter Karin (Kim Gritz), and daughter-in-law Patricia Kimmel. Grandchildren: Jeremy Kimmel, John Kimmel, Heather (Nick K. Stratton), Katie (Ted Crowell), Liz (Gregg Archuleta), Rachael (Jerry Wright), Dierdre (Jared Jones), Christine (Zach Klimko), Alexandra (Ryan Fields), Jessica Kimmel, Steven Gritz, and Jacqueline Kimmel. She also leaves behind twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Johann and Anna Dirrigl, sister Ludwina Merx, husband J.R. Kimmel, son Manfred Kimmel, grandchildren Brandon Kimmel and Lauren Covert.
