Emily Bustos
Mootz
June 7, 1975 – September 19, 2025
Emily Cashman Bustos, a beloved mother, daughter, and passionate advocate for the Denver community, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025 in her hometown.
Born on June 7, 1975 at Mercy Hospital in Denver, Emily's life was marked by brilliance, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Urban Design from New York University and later completed a Master's in Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Colorado Denver. Her academic achievements laid the foundation for a career dedicated to thoughtful community engagement and empowerment.
Emily was deeply involved in early childhood education, nonprofit leadership, and society at large. Her work reflected her belief in equity, opportunity, and the power of education to transform lives, especially for those less fortunate. She was known for her sharp intellect, quick wit, and warm sense of humor, while always keeping her beautiful Mona Lisa smile.
Her passions were as deep as her personality—she found joy in travel, art, charity, and food. Emily's creativity and curiosity were matched only by her love for her family and her community.
Emily is survived by her loving mother, Ellen Cashman; her cherished son, Felix Mootz; and her former spouse, Andrew Mootz. She was preceded in death by her father, David Bustos, and her twin brother, Joaquin Bustos, both of whom she held close in her heart.
