Everett T.
Hughes
October 16, 1932 – March 13, 2022
Everett T. Hughes, affectionately known as "Ev-Baby" by his Grandchildren, was born to Everett A. & Bertha Ormella Hughes on October 16,1932. Everett came up during a time of rebuilding after the great depression; it was a time of searching for opportunities and his parents did just that, exploring across different states until they decided to land back in St Joseph, Missouri where Everett finished his early education at Christian Brothers High School.
Everett met his wife, Rose E Seals, in 1948 when he began working at the Missouri movie Theater in Saint Joseph, Missouri. Everett's heart skipped a beat when their paths first crossed and their love immediately sparked. Everett and Rose were married on February 18th,1949; they shared 64 for years of beautiful love. His Rose passed into God's care on February 7, 2013 but Everett never let go of their forever love. He often shared stories of their life together and documented many of those stories in two books, "A Life to Remember", and "Rose's Story".
Everett was a man who made things happen for himself, his family and everyone he encountered. He was always willing to share his time and to help othersHis kind, enthusiastic, and positive spirit touched so many lives. Everett never missed an opportunity to remind his family how blessed they were and how proud he was of each of them. He always had time to listen, help and lift up the people in his life, no matter what he was going through himself. His kind and generous spirit persisted all the way up to his parting from this world.
Everett's passion for life was expressed in many ways, including travel (domestically and abroad), living his dream of becoming a private pilot, hiking, gold panning, writing, music, and community service to name a few. His love of music was woven into the fabric of his life as he played guitar, piano, and attended live music events. There was often music playing in the background as he carried out his daily routines. He passed this love of music on to his children who enjoy singing or playing instruments and continues through to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Everett's Community Service came naturally. Over the years he participated in Scouting, established a youth boxing club, built homes with Habitat for Humanity, and took great joy in volunteering for his church.
Music was also a passion that Everett loved to share with everyone in his life and described his life with Rose as a song that would never end. He influenced so many to play music, listen, discover and hum along with him. You would often find him on his guitar or at his piano when you came into his home; there was always music filling the air. Everett and Rose's love expanded over the years as they welcomed each of their seven children, the love they had for their children was endless and beautiful and created a special lifetime bond that was felt throughout the entire Hughes clan.
Everett is survived by six of his children, Mike, Paul, Julia Mann, Felicia Nickell, James, and Angela Mikels, his 13 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren, nieces, cousins, and friends, who he was so proud of and loved so very much, no matter the distance. He is preceded in death by his wife, Rose, daughter Rosana Foulk, & sister Dolores Bittick. Everett is now reunited with Rose, leaving those still on earth with the peace in knowing that the best is still yet to come.
