Frank William
Van De Water
December 5, 1930 – July 25, 2018
Frank William Van De Water, M.D. passed away on Wednesday July 25
th
, 2018. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota December 5, 1930, he attended the Breck School in Minneapolis and graduated from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. He attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, graduating with AOA honors, followed by a year long surgical residency Denver, Colorado where his passion for skiing took hold.
He married Karen Ruth Holmgren of St. Paul, Minnesota in 1959, and in 1961 they moved to Denver, where he established his practice in Ear, Nose and Throat. A highly skilled surgeon, he dedicated himself to a thriving practice for more than 30 years. He drew great inspiration from Colorado's mountains and rivers and was an avid skier, biker, fisherman, and mountaineer. He was a patron of the arts, with a particular passion for opera, classical music and art museums. He loved fast cars sporting his "MOZART" license plates. His greatest pleasure was gathering with family at his mountain house: his wife Karen, daughters Lynn Van De Water, Amy Von Thun and her husband Charles Von Thun, Beth Van De Water and David Rothstein and grandchildren, Frank DeCew, Mathilde Von Thun, Henry Von Thun and Alexandra Nicole.
His family thanks Dr. Annie Moore and Dr. Amrut Ambardekar for their care.
In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Planned Parenthood, The Nature Conservancy and The Mesa Verde Foundation.
