George Curtis
Rupert
August 2, 1950 – September 7, 2022
George Curtis "Curt" Rupert was born on August 2, 1950, in Denver, Colo., and passed away on September 7, 2022, in Parker, Colorado, with family at his side. Parker was his home for the last 10 years.
Curt grew up in Denver until he attended Colorado State University; he graduated with a bachelor's degree in fishery biology. He had always wanted to be a forest ranger and loved to fish. Upon graduation, however, he was accepted into the Navy Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Pensacola, Fla., where he earned his commission as an ensign in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged and went to work at The Gates Rubber Company for 30 years. He started as a supervisor in the factory, moved into sales and marketing, and finally retired from the I.T. division, where he was a systems administrator.
In his free time, Curt enjoyed spending time with his family. Family dinners out or in were frequent. He loved to eat or try anything! He always said that there were only two things he wouldn't eat—liver and oysters (understandably). He was a simple guy who was easy to entertain. He loved television and movies. Some of his favorites were old John Wayne movies and '90s sitcoms. Homer Simpson and Al Bundy were two of his favorite characters who could always keep him laughing. His memory was a steel trap, so if you ever had a question about anything random, he was almost as good as Google! Curt was a great dad to his only child Julie, and he had quite a few "dadisms" that would crack up all of his friends. If he was outdoors, he loved to fish, shoot guns at the range, and ride motorcycles. His favorite trip was to Alaska with his dad, where he caught a record-breaking-sized salmon. Curt's other love was classic rock, particularly the Moody Blues. He could frequently be found playing the air guitar/drums to ZZ Top, Iron Butterfly, The Doors, The Doobie Brothers, Santana, and more. To quote the Dire Straits, "You check out guitar George, he knows all the chords!"
Curt is survived by his mother, Joan Buresh; daughter, Julie Saldivar; sister, Roxane Homan; sister-in-law, Karen Rupert; and nieces and nephews, Brady, Whitney, Brittany, Michael (Ciara), Gage, Kyah, and Cory. He was preceded in death by his father, George C. "Bud" Rupert, and his brother, Michael C. Rupert.
No services will be held per his wishes.
