Gloria Elaine Zakus died peacefully on February 25, 2022 under the loving and supportive care of Namaste Hospice. She was born on July 12, 1932 to Paul and Severine Zakus in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.  Gloria graduated from the University of Winnipeg. She obtained her master's degree in Social Work at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

She moved to Denver, Colorado in 1957 and naturalized in 1966. She worked at University Hospital for over 30 years helping to develop mental health programs for adolescent children. During a one-year sabbatical in 1966 she worked for the Royal Free Hospital in London England. She published several professional articles in academic journals, retiring in 1989.

After retirement, Gloria volunteered at Denver Tourist Bureau, the State Capitol and the Colorado Museum and spent happy hours in Botanic Gardens. She also wrote free-lance travel articles.

Gloria is survived by her brother Paul David (Peggy) Zakus, British Columbia, numerous nieces and nephews and close friends who will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Joyce Anderson.
