Obituary

Gordon Richard Breiner was born December 1, 1922 in Chanute, Kansas. He died at the age of 99 years 9 months on 9-9-2022 at 9pm in Denver, Colorado. He died the way he lived, no predictable pattern, enjoying making people laugh, making heart connections with those around him and asking for cheeseburgers and beer.

Gordon grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas with his parents Leo and Gladys Breiner and his sister Dorothy Dean. (She married Paul Ozbun and had 3 incredible daughters Paula, Cathy and Janice) He loved them and their families deeply and they report always feeling happy in his presence.

He received training as a welder, then used that training in the Construction Battalion of the Navy in WWII. His post war job put him in Scottsbluff, Nebraska where he met Geraldine Colling and in less than 6 months they were married in February of 1952. His family grew exponentially as he embraced Gerry's large family. Their daughter Cheryl was born a year later in Kansas City, MO.

In 1955 they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah then 2 years later moved to Granger. During the 44 years they lived in Utah he was always actively involved in something. He was active in many parts of the church at Granger Community Christian Church. Gordon loved to hunt, fish, camp, garden and play bridge. He enjoyed photography and genealogy. In retirement he was involved with Habitat for Humanity.

In 1999 they moved to Loveland, Colorado. He continued church involvement at First Christian Church and Habitat for Humanity. Gordon worked out at the rec center, played bridge with many groups and loved people. He was baffled by the distinctions people made about types of people. For all of his many years he maintained an innocent belief in people and love. Gordon was committed to God, family, church, and life. His humor and good nature endeared him to many. We will miss him, but surrender him to grace, peace and his yearned for reunion with his wife of 70 years.
