Ilene Kamsler, a longtime resident of Denver and a towering figure in the tourism and hospitality in Colorado, passed away on March 28, 2026, of natural causes. She was 83 years old, born October 2, 1942.
Ilene came to Colorado in 1986 when named director of the Metro Denver Hotel Association, later to become president of the Colorado Hotel & Lodging Association, representing 540 members and more than 40,000 guest rooms. She dedicated her professional life working tirelessly to bring tourism factions together to speak with one voice. Her efforts were rewarded in 2006 with the passage of Colorado legislation providing guaranteed permanent funding for the Colorado Tourism Office. In 2007 Ilene was inducted into the Denver & Colorado Tourism Hall of Fame. Additionally, Ilene served in numerous capacities on state and national tourism boards and organizations.
In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, baseball, listening to jazz and traveling. She was always surrounded by many friends and enjoyed close relationships with her family. Dearest to her heart were always her cats Joe and Mika.
Ilene was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her sister Sandy Rabinoff, Kansas City, niece Amy Rabinoff and nephew Mitch Rabinoff and his family residing in Denver. Amy, Mitch and immediate family will sorely miss their sweet aunt, affectionately known to them as "Ti".
