Jan Kanies, 88, of Westminster, Colorado passed away on December 31, 2022.  She was born in Nebraska to Andrew and Esther Ruff.   She was the youngest of seven children and had no middle name because "the family ran out of names by the time she came along"!

She married Joe Kanies on May 30, 1975.  She brought her two children, Susan and Jeff, to the union and Joe brought his three children, Terry, Peggy, and Jim.  Together they began a journey filled with travel, great fun, wonderful friends, and many, many laughs.

Jan was known for her love of carousels, her caramel rolls, and her endless bowl of popcorn.  She never knew a stranger as she talked to absolutely everyone she met.  She had the most magnificent laugh, and used it often, making others laugh with her.

She is survived by her children, Susan Durrett and Jeff Roberts, her step-children Peggy Vernon and Jim Kanies, and six grandchildren, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters Shirley Ann (Dolly) and Donna Lou, good friend Joseph Molliconi, and more friends than we can count. Jan was predeceased by her parents, siblings Carol Jean, Eunice Rae, Betty Jane and Roger Andrew, her son Mark, her step-son Terry, and her beloved husband Joe.

A memorial service celebrating Jan's life will be held at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 12099 Lowell Blvd., on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 1:00 PM.  Inurnment at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, please honor Jan's memory by paying it forward with acts of kindness.
