Janice "Jan" L. Smith, age 77, departed this life on March 17, 2023.  Jan was born December 5, 1945 in Brighton, Colorado and was a lifelong resident of Commerce City where she graduated from Adams City High School.  She was a second generation farmer alongside her two brothers on a homestead begun by her father.  What may have seemed like the middle of nowhere to some, the 2500 acres in Adams county was the center of her world growing up where winter wheat was the primary crop with 250 head of cattle.

She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, enjoyed traveling to Colorado's casinos and testing her luck with her husband and she found great company and comfort over the years from her loyal pets.

Jan is survived by her sister-in-law, Floria Smith, three nieces Margaret Smith-Bjork, Julia (Jimmy) Gonzales, and Cheryl Carver; great nephew Corey Runyon and four great nieces Emmalee Smith, Viola Smith, Erica Salazar-Smith and Bobbi Marie Gonzales; and her granddaughter Lani Kay Ferreira . She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Louis Ferreira, her parents Clarence Elmer and Leona Elizabeth (Mathis) Smith, both brothers Elroy Junior and Robert Clarence Smith and her nephew Robert J. Smith.
