John A. Bachmann resident of Bow Mar, CO, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026. He was 79.

John was born October 15, 1946 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin the oldest son of Arthur and Gertrude (Derus) Bachmann. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1964. He continued his education by pursuing a bachelor’s degree at the extension center for the University of Wisconsin of Manitowoc. However, wanting to enjoy his early adult life, he dropped out which promptly got him a Draft Notice! He chose to enlist in the Navy, serving 4 years from 1967-1970. Just before his enlistment ended, on August 9, 1969, John married Georgia Beck at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Manitowoc. John was now ready to continue his education. Using his GI Benefits and re-enrolled at UW-Manitowoc ultimately finishing in Green Bay with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science (Environmental Science), graduating Magna Cum Laude on May 25, 1974. He then decided to pursue a law degree and chose the University of Denver Law School, moving to Colorado in August of 1974. After graduating from DU in 1977, Summa Cum Laude, he was hired by Gulf Oil Company and worked in the law department for their subsidiary, The Pittsburg and Midway Coal Mining Company. John would spend nearly 20 years there before corporate down-sizing steered him into doing independent work which led him to doing work for Lawrence Construction Company, a heavy civil construction company specializing in building highways, bridges, and deep foundations. Eventually, Lawrence would hire him to be their in-house legal counsel for just over a decade. John would finish his law career at home in the early 2000’s before fully retiring in 2019.

The family grew with the arrival of Gina in May of 1978. This led John and Georgia to searching for a new home in 1979. Wanting to build a home of their own, their realtor brought them to look at 5 lots at the Belleview entrance in Bow Mar. Bowles Lake was a key selling point to choosing where to put down roots, a token reminder of John and Georgia’s Manitowoc upbringing on the shores of Lake Michigan. Construction finished just before the birth of their son Jason, born in August of 1980.

John loved fishing, hunting, camping, golf, and traveling. He took his family on many great adventures throughout the United States and abroad. He also enjoyed carpentry, building much of the bedroom furniture, family room and basement end tables, entertainment center, pool table inlays, and many other pieces which his family will forever treasure.

John is immediately survived by his wife, Georgia; daughter, Gina and her husband Richard Balagot and their four children: Antonio, Coriander, TJ, and Keala. Son, Jason and his wife Katrina and their two daughters: Shealyn and Annaliese.

John will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Thursday, May 21, 2026 promptly at 11:30am, Staging Area White with full military honors. Please arrive 15 minutes to Staging Area White.
