Jordon F.
Todd
Jun 2, 1958 — Sep 1, 2019
Jordon Frederick Todd, retired petroleum geologist, aficionado of most things, and citizen of the world, died peacefully on September 1, 2019 at the age of 61, at Rose Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Jordon, the youngest of 5 siblings, was born June 2, 1958, in Billings, Montana. At the age of 8, he moved with his family to Djakarta, Indonesia, where he attended the Regina Pacis School and the International School (now Jakarta Intercultural School). It was there that he developed his love of international travel. After the family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1968, Jordon attended Bromwell Elementary School, and later graduated from the Kent Denver School (1976). Before college, Jordon spent a year travelling the South Pacific, and working in Perth, Western Australia and Irian Jaya, Indonesia.
He earned his bachelor's degree in geology at Occidental College in Los Angeles, California (1981), and shortly thereafter joined Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. His work took him to distant corners of the world. At various times, he made his home in Singapore, Guangzhou (China), Tulsa (Oklahoma), Alexandria (Egypt), Mogadishu (Somalia), Sana'a (Yemen), and London (UK). After retiring from Phillips in the early 90's, Jordon split his time between homes in Denver and Seattle, and travelled the world extensively with friends and family.
Diagnosed with kidney failure in the mid 2000's, Jordon was blessed with the donation of a kidney from his oldest sister, Cynthia, and was forever grateful for the gift of life so selflessly given.
Jordon was deeply devoted to his family; he took immense pride in knowing and documenting his family's ancestry and genealogy, and was a generous storyteller of their histories.
Jordon also enjoyed contemporary art. He often participated in trips sponsored by the Denver Art Museum and its AFCA group. In younger days, he was a participant in a number of triathlons, and took part in Ride the Rockies and the MS 150. He loved spending time in the mountains, skiing, and in quiet moments, the New York Times Sunday crossword, which he generally crushed.
Throughout his life, he loved knowledge of all things, including obscure facts and figures, and loved sharing that knowledge even more. He was the family's reference book from an early age, and more recently, our googler-in-chief.
Jordon is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Nancy & Don Todd; his siblings Cynthia, Jennifer, John, & Misty; and by his many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces to whom he was known as "Moncle". He is also survived by his beloved Portuguese water dog, Lima, and the many friends and extended family around the globe who knew and loved him.
Jordon is loved. He will be greatly missed.
