Obituary

Judith "Judy" Ann Tessendorf passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at her home in Lakewood, Colorado leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, creativity, and quiet strength. Judy was born on October 6, 1946, in Woodstock, Illinois, to Robert and Eleanor (Lickman) Leanna.

In 1967, Judy moved from Illinois to Colorado, a place that quickly captured her heart and became her lifelong home. Colorado was where she built her life, formed lasting friendships, and created a warm, welcoming home filled with laughter, creativity, and love. She truly embraced the Colorado lifestyle — especially her love of sunshine, peaceful days spent by her pool, and the strong sense of community she shared with her neighbors, many of whom became dear friends.

Judy married Terry Tessendorf from 1967 to 1994. Although they later divorced, Judy and Terry remained close and continued to share a strong bond rooted in mutual respect, love, and unwavering support for their children. Together, they prioritized family and remained connected until Terry's untimely passing in 2020 — a relationship that reflected Judy's capacity for grace, forgiveness, and enduring care for those she loved. Professionally, Judy spent her career in the medical field as an office manager.  Known for her dedication, organizational skills, and compassionate nature. Her colleagues and patients alike appreciated her steady presence, attention to detail, and genuine concern for others. Judy took pride in her work and approached it with the same care and responsibility she brought to every aspect of her life.

Judy had a wonderful sense of humor and a warm, gentle spirit. She was deeply caring, thoughtful, and generous with her time and energy. She had a natural ability to make people feel comfortable and valued, and her home was always a place where others felt welcome. She maintained many close friendships throughout her life and treasured the relationships she built over the years. Creativity was an important part of Judy's life. She loved baking and cooking, often expressing her love through the meals and treats she prepared for family and friends. Her artistic side flourished through hobbies such as pottery, painting, and knitting — pursuits that reflected her patience, imagination, and appreciation for handmade beauty. Above all, Judy cherished life's simple, meaningful moments - conversations shared over coffee, laughter with loved ones, quiet afternoons in the sun, and time spent watching her grandchildren grow. She lived independently with strength and confidence, guided by love, resilience, and a deep appreciation for family and community.

Judy will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her creativity, her independence, and the profound love she gave so freely. She leaves behind memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew her.

She is lovingly survived by her father, Robert Leanna; her three children, Robert Tessendorf, (Darla Bohacs), Ted Tessendorf, (Stuart Stone), and Jody (Jared) Palermo; and her cherished granddaughters, Lilly and Madison "Maddie" Palermo. Judy's family was the center of her world, and she found her greatest happiness in being a mother and grandmother. Her love for her children and grandchildren was constant, deep, and unconditional, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor, and her siblings Marvin, Loraine, and Juanita.

A celebration of Judy's life will be announced next year. Please check back.
