L. Lee
Brodie
May 9, 1947 – July 31, 2023
Lucy Lee Brodie, of Lakewood, Colorado, died July 31, 2023, at home with her dog, Callie, and her friends by her side. She fought a long valiant battle with cancer. She was born on May 9, 1947, and raised in Elmira, NY. Lee traveled west to the University of Denver, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. Because of her love of knowledge and the desire to share with others, she completed her Master's Degree in Library Science in 1974. She worked at Columbine High School as the school librarian, where she was passionate about the role of being a reference specialist. Lee also graduated from the Denver Paralegal School in 1986.
Lee loved to be on and near water. She was most proud of her amazing accomplishment of catching and reeling in a sailfish weighing 54 lbs, 8 oz and was 91 inches long off Key West, Florida. The highlight of many summers were visits with her Aunt Peggy Graham at Pinawan cottage on Ahmic Lake, two hundred miles north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Among many activities at Pinawan, Lee enjoyed playing highly competitive bridge with Aunt Peggy. Additionally, she enjoyed being with her East Coast and Georgia families, numerous water sports, and taking her Colorado friends there for vacation.
Lee was involved in her neighborhood organization and frequently talked about the joy she got from helping others. Her kindness to neighbors was evident, for example, when she headed up the planting of a tree in the neighborhood common area for her friend and neighbor, former Lakewood Chief of Police, Ron Burns.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret H. "Peggy" Brodie, nephew John Brodie II (wife Katherine D., grand-nephew John (Jack) M Brodie III, grand-niece Kristen M. Brodie), nephew Robert Hamilton Brodie (wife Laura Agnes Hegeman Brodie, grand-niece Lillian Scot Brodie), and her beloved first cousins, John, Ric, and Barry Graham, and Frou Graham Gallagher. She is preceded in death by her parents John Mitchel Brodie and Lucy Askew Brodie (born Hill), and her brother, John G. Brodie.
Her celebration of life will be Saturday, August 12, 2023, 2:00pm-4:00pm at her residence.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Magnetawan Watershed Land Trust at mwlt.org PO Box 190, Magnetawan, Ontario POA 1PO Canada in Lee's name.
