LeRoy Edward Marshall, 85, passed away peacefully in his home in Aurora, CO on March 26, 2023. Roy was born December 25, 1937, in Stockton, California, to Ruth Vannice Marshall and Floyd M Marshall.
When Roy was a toddler, the family moved to Byron, Wyoming where he began his education from 1 st grade through graduating high school. Roy loved sports and played football, ran track and field and excelled in basketball and was a member of FFA while in high school.
Roy attended 1 year at Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyoming. In 1957, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Ames and they made their first home in Yellowstone Park, where Roy worked. They then moved to Casper, Wyoming where Roy worked for Forsling Furniture laying carpet. When the company went out of business, they moved back to Byron, where he worked part time at Penrose Cemetery, Big Wig Canning Factory and then for 7 years, worked full time at Lovell Motors. While back in his hometown of Byron, he took up the sport of Archery, attending many tournaments in different states, winning meets, and bow hunting. In 1992, his son bought him a compound bow; he practiced with it 10 times, went to a competition and won the overall tournament. This was one of Roy's favorite hobbies/past times and it became a lifelong, family affair. Roy went to Kansas City, MO to airline school and in 1965, moved his family to Aurora Colorado and worked for Frontier and Continental Airlines for the next 30 years. In 1994, he went to work for ADP as a Traffic Dispatcher. He was an avid fan and coach of little league football, coaching his son Lance through these years until High School. He never missed a football game that Lance played in, throughout his High School years. Roy loved spending time with his daughter, Amee Lea and family, at the Lodge and Ranch near Cody, Wyoming. A great highlight was riding horses 22 miles each way in to hunting camp in the Wilderness of his Wonderful Wyoming.
Roy loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, arrowhead hunting, camping in the mountains of Wyoming, crafting ceramics, keeping his yard perfectly manicured, touring and vacationing on their motorcycles with his wife, family members and friends and having his beloved Brenda and family around him always. He loved watching the Denver Broncos and the Denver Nuggets. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.
Preceding him in death were his parents of Aurora, CO, brother Kenneth Marshall of Aurora, CO, Sister-in-law Susan Marshall of Aurora, CO daughter Amee Barrus of Cody, WY, and Son-in-law John Barrus of Cody, Wyoming.
He is survived by and leaves to celebrate his life, Wife Brenda Marshall of Aurora, CO, Son Lance (Laura) Marshall of Aurora, CO, Grandchildren Shasta (Robert) Maupin of Kiowa, CO, Desiree (Mark) Willms of Aurora, CO, Hunter (Taylor) Marshall of Centennial, CO, Kealey Marshall of Pueblo, CO and Great Granddaughter Charlea Maupin of Kiowa, CO. Brothers/Sisters-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 9:00-10:30am, in the Relief Society Room at the LDS Church in Byron. Interment to follow immediately at Byron Cemetery.
