Obituary

Linda Lee Dunn, 71, of Littleton, Colorado. Alighted on this world in September of 1953 and flew away August 19, 2025. She was welcomed by her parents, Dora F. (Gambill) and Robert G. Dunn, and big brother Bob, in Dayton, Ohio. Later the family was joined by her sibling Karen (Kieran).

Growing up, Linda was active in the Trinity Baptist Church Baptist Youth Fellowship. Linda attended Fairview High School in Dayton, then studied psychology at Ohio Northern University. She returned home to finish college at Wright State University after the untimely passing of brother Bob. Linda then worked for the VA in Chillicothe, Ohio, before embarking on a journey to Colorado. She had fallen in love with the Centennial State on an earlier family vacation. Linda earned a Master's degree in Human Development and Counseling at the University of Denver and was later employed in a sheltered workshop and an addiction treatment center, before becoming a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the Colorado Department of Vocational Rehabilitation in 1983.

Linda was a dedicated professional, often working weekends to meet the needs of her clients. She rose to leadership positions including President of the Colorado Rehabilitation Association and volunteered with Wilderness on Wheels. Linda was an effective and caring mentor to fellow counselors. She also brought light-heartedness into the workplace. Her "sunset call" reminded coworkers to pause what they were doing so they could look out and appreciate the setting of the sun. Spontaneous laughter erupted as duck-quacks and elephant-snorts arose unexpectedly from Linda's office-toy menagerie.

Linda adored animals, particularly dogs. She shared her home with several dogs over the years, and visiting dogs were ecstatic to play in the natural playground of Linda's tree-filled backyard. Squirrels, birds, and bunnies also romped there, and she enjoyed watching them dart about from her kitchen window.

Linda also played in the outdoors and especially loved the mountains. She enjoyed hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, biking, camping, kayaking, beach-reclining, travel, and many other pursuits. As a child, she was enamored with the idea of being a forest ranger; as an adult, she was tickled to wear a uniform as she volunteered for Jefferson County Parks and Open Space. Her interests also included music. Linda played piano, ukelele, flute, guitar, and even took a workshop on spoons. She sang in her church choir and played hand bells for the church as well. Linda was a member of Swallow Hill Music, attending many concerts, and thoroughly enjoyed outings with friends to City Park Jazz. Linda was also an accomplished dancer in various styles. And as a lifelong fan of baseball, she faithfully attended Colorado Rockies games in the company of friends.

Linda's friends and family looked forward to the yearly update and special occasion cards she produced from her "Purple Bootie Press," featuring her own well-composed photographs and thoughtful sayings. In the culinary realm, as a longtime vegetarian, later a vegan, Linda's creative cookery extended not only to tasty main dishes and sides, but also to excellent pies.

Linda's generous spirit and infectious laugh are lasting memories for her friends and family. She will be remembered as a "funny lady," even until the end of her wildly joyous life. Particularly close with cousins Eloise (Jimmy) Allder of Houston and Mandy (Brady) Mercer of Denver, Linda will be missed by an amazingly wide-ranging host of family and friends. Her sibling Kieran had hoped to grow old with Linda in her beloved adopted state of Colorado. Linda's family and friends will always treasure her memory and her everlastingly loving spirit.
