Lucille Florence
Zwanzig

Lucille Florence Zwanzig of Denver, died October 1, 2025, at Porter Inpatient Hospice in Centennial. She was born on a farm near Clear Lake, South Dakota, the 6th of 7 children of Hans and Ivabelle Adolph, and was married to Peter Zwanzig, on January 1,1993 in Denver. She passed away peacefully, after complications from strokes and pancreatic cancer, the latter only diagnosed in August of this year.
After raising a family, and work in churches and in the life insurance industry, during the 1970's in Michigan, Lucille followed a call to new beginnings in her beloved Rocky Mountains in 1982. Here, she worked as an Executive Assistant for senior managers first in real estate, and subsequently in the medical and electronic technology businesses at Telectronics, Inc. and later at Xerox. She completed 2 years of academic work on an Associates Degree in Sociology at Denver Community College in Aurora, before marrying Peter. She was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church for her first decade in Denver, engaged in social ministry/evangelism, leading Bible Study, youth advisory, organized a hiking group known as Trailblazers (where she met Peter), and leading interfaith groups such as SE Denver Crop Walk. She has subsequently been an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church since 2001. She also was an accomplished amateur photographer.
Lucille is survived by husband Peter; sister Lillian Hagen of Hot Springs, SD; and daughter Sharon (husband Greg) of Port Monmouth, NJ; 3 grandsons Adam, Kyle, and Ryan, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life, followed by a reception, will be on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at 1:00pm, Bethany Lutheran Church, (Chapel) 4500 E. Hampden Avenue in Cherry Hills Village. Inurnment at a later date, in the Memorial Garden at Augustana Lutheran Church.
Remembrances may be made in Lucille's name to The Nature Conservancy.
