Mariama Nanette (Augustin) Henkel, age 72, of Denver died peacefully on October 13, 2023 at Elevation Health and Rehabilitation.

Mrs. Henkel was born in Grand Junction, Colorado on January 5, 1951 to Jan Peter Leo Augustin and Wanda Rosalie Augustin. She grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado and eventually settled in Denver, Colorado. While on a spiritual retreat in the Foothills of Colorado, she met the love of her life, Junipara Henkel.

She spent her early years as a cook and sous chef. Later on she went on to become a dental hygienist. In September of 1983 she and Junipara welcomed their only child, Adric, into the world. She would spend the rest of her life as a mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Henkel is survived by her husband Junipara Henkel, her son Adric Henkel, and her sister Teresa Diann (Augustin) Bliss. She also leaves behind two nieces and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Wanda Rosalie Augustin, father Jan Peter Leo Augustin and her youngest sister Valeria Louise (Augustin) Tokarz.

Mariama was loved by her family and will be missed. This time of deep loss reminds us to treasure the moments we have today.
