Obituary

M. Jane Craft passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado on November 7, 2022. She was born in Myra, Texas on February 22, 1934. She was Frank W. Wilson and May Blanche Warner Wilson's only child.

She graduated from McMurry College in Abilene, Texas and married her college sweetheart, J. Joe Craft, on February 26, 1955. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Denver, Colorado and raised three children together.

Jane was a former Denver Public Schools 2 nd grade teacher, a community activist, a political activist, chaired Mayor Pena's advisory council for community affairs, and was fully devoted to supporting her husbands' dreams related to promoting the Arts (especially Theatre Arts) within the Denver Public Schools and in the city of Denver. She fiercely advocated for her own children and her grandchildren to always follow their own dreams, too. She shared this same love and support with her neighbors, her Washington Street Community Center friends, and all of her other many special friends who Jane was known to express very kind, sweet messages both verbally and in the most beautifully penned written notes. She was well known for always having a smile on her face and a great hug.

Jane is survived by her daughter and oldest child, Kim Craft Macklin as well as Kim's three children, Courtney Zan Smith, Ian William Macklin and Evan Wilson Macklin. She was the proud great grandmother to Taran Jeremy Blackwell, Mila Rose Macklin and Jaxon Elliott Macklin. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, J. Joe Craft, and her two son, Jay Kipling Craft and Jeremy Campton Craft.

She remains in her families' hearts and will always be remembered with the deepest love and devotion. Her family appreciates and celebrates her contributions to those she touched daily with her expressions of kindness and to being the most strong willed and determined matriarch a family could ever have. We will never forget her favorite saying which was "Make Today a Masterpiece". Let's all live to Make Every Day a Masterpiece in Jane's honor.

Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorials may be made to Washington Street Community Center 809 S Washington St, Denver, CO 80209 or to a charity of your choice, in Jane's name.
