Mary Louise Kidder, 94, passed away peacefully at her home of 70 years on May 3, 2023. Mary Lou was born in Kimball, Nebraska on July 6, 1928 to Roland V. Rodman and Marjorie M. Rodman. She had two older sisters, Priscilla Wandell and Marjorie Scott who pre-deceased her. Mary Lou moved to Denver in 1936 at the age of 8 years and lived in Denver for the rest of her life. A graduate of East High, she attended University of Denver and University of Colorado at Boulder to study music and voice.
Mary Lou married Ross E. Davis in 1948 and leaves behind her four children from that marriage including Ross E. Davis Jr. of Vail, Carol Lee Davis of Denver, Mark R. Davis (Sara Steel) of Denver, and Mary Lynn Davis of Boston. She has 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou remarried in 1979 to Arthur W. Kidder Jr. and they traveled the world together for the next 30 years, visiting every continent on Earth.
Mary Lou and her daughter Carol Lee, "Cari", have operated a business together for the last 50 years. Diversions Needlepoint is a much-celebrated shop serving the needlepoint community with lessons, consultation and an astonishing inventory of hand painted canvases and threads. Mary Lou was well known in the community as an expert stitcher and gracious teacher to all who knew her.
Mary Lou was an active participant in charity work and the support of the performing arts. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Denver Botanic Gardens or the American Heart Society. There will be a private family Celebration of Life honoring Mary Lou at a later date.
