Obituary

On Tuesday, April 26, 2022, Maxwell Lester Saul ~ loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many passed away in Aurora, Colorado.

Max was born in New York City, New York on June 2, 1926, and grew up in Brooklyn.  With World War II continuing, like many his age, he joined the Army Air Corp right after high school eager to fight for his country.  He attended bootcamp in Biloxi, MS and trained in the B29 Bomber at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado.  He enjoyed Colorado so much he moved back after the war and attended Denver University, School of Architecture. In 1956 he met and married the love of his life, Jane Anderson.  Max and Jane had two children that they raised in Denver, Colorado.  Jennifer Saul Larson and was proceed in death by her sister, Kelli Graham Bates.  He was a grandfather to Spencer Graham Bates, Sydney Nicole Bates, and Savannah Jo Bates. He will be warmly remembered as well as a mentor, a loving friend, avid music enthusiast and a walking encyclopedia.

A renowned architect, Max specialized in designing schools around the world, numerous housings for the elderly and correctional institution later in his career.   Max also had a few special projects, one such project was his beautiful home in Litibu, Mexico that he shared with everyone he could. Known as ' Casa Dos Palmas' , this was a passion project that Max completed because he and his late wife Jane, shared a profound love of Mexico. They passed this love onto their family and friends and with every sip of tequila, sunset, or warm day on the beach, their memory will live on.

Throughout out his life he was involved in numerous professional and social organizations giving back to his industry and community.  He was a long-standing member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), a Fellow of the Construction Specification Institute (CSI), and an active member of the Fraternal Order of Elks in Aurora.

Although he will be greatly missed, those who knew him will find these memories easy to come by because his presence and captivating conversations were as inspiring and memorable as his unmistakable intellect.  Maxwell Lester Saul, spent 95 years and 328 days making his mark on this world. It was an honor to know him.

A private burial services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
