Michael (“Mike”) Keller O’Shea, born on June 15, 1968, in Kansas City, Kansas, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2026, at the age of 58. A devoted husband, father, brother, and the beloved third child of Jim and Joyce O’Shea. Mike lived an energetic, full-hearted life centered on the people he loved.
As an infant, his family moved to Northglenn, Colorado. A natural athlete, Mike began running track at the age of nine, and later swam and ran cross country competitively throughout high school. When he wasn't engaged in organized sports, he was always on the move—riding bikes and playing games with his siblings and the neighborhood kids.
He attended Northglenn High School and earned his undergraduate degree from CU Boulder, where he started dating the love of his life, Janel (“Sweet Pea”). Driven and curious, he went on to earn both an MBA from the University of Denver and a Master of Engineering from CU Denver. Mike built a long, fulfilling career at Sundyne in Arvada, Xcel Energy, and Entrust Solutions Group.
Mike and Janel shared 35 wonderful years of marriage, building a home anchored in unconditional love and support. Together they raised three sons—Jack, Grant, and Sam—who were his absolute pride and joy. Whether he was cheering on the CU Buffs with them, coaching from the sidelines, or imparting quiet life lessons on integrity and hard work. Mike’s deepest fulfillment came from being their dad.
An animal lover with a soft spot for elephants. He held a special place in his heart for his dogs: Kota, Ginger, Daisy (“Daizer/Monkey”), and Charly (“Horsey”) Brown. Loved as true members of the family, they were his constant companions on frequent walks throughout the neighborhood.
Mike was deeply responsible yet never took himself too seriously. An avid cyclist, active gym member, lover of nature, and lifelong learner. He was just as eager to discuss the news of the day as he was to tell a goofy joke with a hearty laugh. Known affectionately as the family’s "idea guy," he could always be counted on to invent a new game, assign an affectionate nickname, or share his wisdom.
Family was always first for Mike, and he gave his wife and sons constant guidance, support, and unconditional love. He was a pillar of his community who brought joy and light to everyone he knew.
He is survived by his wife Janel, his sons Jack (Sarah), Grant, and Sam, his sister Jeanie (Bryan), and his brother Tom (Fran). He was predeceased by his sister Molly and his parents Jim and Joyce.
A memorial mass will be held Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community, 7400 W. 80th Ave., Arvada, Colorado 80003 with a reception following at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mike’s honor to your local animal rescue.
