Michel A.
(Mike) Dorn
January 16, 1956 – September 21, 2025
Michel A. Dorn of Frisco, CO, passed away peacefully on Sept. 21, 2025. Born in Casper, WY, Mike grew up mostly in the Denver area, graduating from Ranum High School in Adams County. After some time at the University of Colorado in Boulder, the mountains called to him and he moved to Steamboat Springs to enjoy life in the great outdoors. He eventually moved to Silverthorne, married, and raised two cherished daughters. In recent years, he happily lived in Frisco, taking up residence at the lovely Frisco Lodge.
Mike pursued a life of balance, working in various capacities in construction and home remodeling while enjoying the recreation of the Rockies. He would not shy away from a challenge and saw that every job was done with quality and integrity. An avid skier (down-hill and cross country), bicyclist, and hiker, Mike likely traversed thousands of miles over the years on the slopes, roads, and trails of Colorado and elsewhere.
A dreamer and seeker, Mike often had a twinkle in his eye and a playful approach to life, as well as an equanimity and fortitude to meet life's ups and downs. He enjoyed cooking and culinary adventures, and sharing warm meals with friends and family. A game of chess was also a favorite for spending time with dear friends. Loved and admired, he and his zest for living will be greatly missed.
He is predeceased by his father Ernest Dorn, and is survived by his mother, Helene Ford, brother Charles Dorn (Drucilla), sister Rose Dorn (Peter Disclafani), sister Claudia Ford, daughters Elena Dorn and Kaitlyn Mooney, and granddaughter Devlin Mooney.
A celebration of life will be organized; in lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to your favorite charity or to T he Summit Foundation , and, above all, may kindness and wonder fill the days ahead in remembrance of our beloved son, brother, father and friend, Michel.
