Obituary

Nicholas (Nick) Rossie, 31, died at home on June 5, 2024.  He was universally described as "sweet and kind."  He was a 2011 graduate of Denver Online High School and earned an Associates Degree in General Science from Community College of Denver.  He also graduated from Pickens Technical College with a certificate in General Electronics and from Rita Bass Center with an Emergency Medical Technician certificate.

Nicholas' passion was science and discovery, and he also loved cooking, gardening, video games, Dungeons and Dragons, and painting. He enjoyed playing the guitar and teaching himself to play the piano. He was a prolific reader of science fiction and fantasy. He built some epic potato canons.  He was an active volunteer at Park Hill Food Pantry.  Nicholas worked in the community as a handyman and enjoyed seasonal jobs like putting up holiday decorations for many people in the neighborhood.  Early on he was an accomplished gymnast at Dardano's School of Gymnastics who at one point earned the title of "Colorado's Strongest Gymnast" for his level of competition.  Unfortunately, asthma and other medical conditions derailed his promising athletic career.

He is survived by his brother Vincent Scott Rossie and parents Dr. George V. Rossie and Christine Schuyler-Rossie, and many loving friends, cousins, aunts and uncles.  Nicholas was preceded in death by his brother G. Nathan Rossie in 2001, his paternal grandparents, John P. and Lucille B. Rossie, and his maternal grandparents Lt. Col. Philip Van Schuyler and Janice Kysor Van Schuyler.
