Nikolaus C.
Levinsky
August 31, 1980 – October 17, 2024
Born and raised in Denver, CO, Nikolaus (Nik) Caldwell Levinsky spent his entire life surrounded by the people and places he loved most. Nik was a devoted husband to Annie for 18 years (though true high school sweethearts together for nearly 30) and a remarkable father to two wonderful boys, Jack and Abe. Parenthood was undoubtedly the greatest joy of his life, and he relished cooking for the family, playing Legos on the floor, and sharing stories.
Nik was the beloved son of parents Steven and Linda and adored by little sister Addie. Nik filled every room with his gentle, kind spirit. He had a close and connected group of friends, cultivated from childhood in Park Hill and through his music.
Nik graduated from Manual High School, and then the University of Colorado at Boulder with a degree in Environmental Design. Nik worked in information technology for over twenty years, spending more than a decade at the University of Colorado Medical School, building applications to support faculty, students, and researchers as Director of Informatics and Development. He had a calmness under pressure, a keen sense of design, and unparalleled attention to detail.
Nik's true avocation and passion was music, first as a young violin player and concertmaster in the Denver Citywide Orchestra and later with guitar in hand—acoustic or electric. His band of twenty-four years, 12 Cents for Marvin, satisfied his creative energies and provided many adventures and opportunities. Nik even spent a short stint playing guitar on tour with the English Beat. He was never more alive than when making music with friends, bringing infectious humor, endless fun, and quiet leadership.
Though his time with us was far, far too short, the memories of his unwavering loyalty, humor, and love for life will remain in our hearts and souls forever—melodies pure and strong. He will be missed beyond measure, but his rhythm will play on.
Nik is survived by his wife, Annie (Robb) Levinsky, sons Jack (13) and Abe (10), sister Addie Levinsky, parents Steven and Linda Levinsky, grandmother Lola Caldwell, numerous in-laws, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins.. He was preceded in death by his infant sister, May Levinsky, his maternal grandfather, Frank Caldwell, and his paternal grandparents, Jack and Gertrude Levinsky.
A memorial service will be held on October 28, 2024, 3:00 pm at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1980 Dahlia Street, Denver, 80220.
