Norman H.
Hill
August 14, 1942 – February 14, 2022
What can I tell you about Norman Hill?
That music was his first language.
That he knew more about more things than anyone I've ever known.
That when we were first married, he was named "the people's husband" because he was always the one my classmates called when they needed help with anything.
That he was a cat and dog whisperer.
That he loved butterflies, and all sorts of bugs.
That a vocational counselor told him that based on his interests and talents he should look into being a tap dancing architect.
That he did want to BE a dancer like Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire .
That he was an awful dancer.
That he regretted not knowing how to read music because he constantly composed songs in his head that he could not share with anyone.
That he went out to watch the sunset nearly every evening
That he made grocery lists in Old English calligraphy.
That he loved woodworking.
That he recognized the beauty in a single white rose.
That he told me he loved me nearly every day for 56 years.
That he was a good and kind man, a fine drummer with impeccable timing.
Stormin' Norman Hill has left the building.
